Your Usage Allowance

Your plan includes a monthly usage allowance — the amount of AI work covered by your subscription each billing period. You can see it any time in Settings → Usage.

Everything your companion does on your behalf draws from the same allowance:

  • Chat — based on how much your companion reads and writes
  • Voice — how long you speak, and how long your companion speaks back
  • Creating things — notes, pages, images, summaries, and memory work
  • Background work — your briefing, routines, and reflections

Different tasks run on different AI models, and those models cost different amounts, so the same amount of allowance goes further on some things than others. Longer, more complex requests use more than short, simple ones.

Settings → Usage shows how much of the current period you’ve used as a percentage, with a meter that changes colour as it fills.

As you approach the limit, a message appears so nothing catches you out mid-task:

  • At 80%“You’re near your monthly limit — add credits or upgrade.”
  • At 95%“You’re almost out — less than 5% of your monthly usage remains. Add credits or upgrade to avoid interruption.”
  • When it’s used up“Monthly usage used up — additional usage now draws from your credit balance below.”

During a trial the same three stages apply, worded for the trial’s own allowance rather than a monthly one.

Your companion doesn’t stop. Once the monthly allowance is used up, further usage draws from your credit balance instead — see Understanding your credits.

If you have no credits either, your companion pauses and asks you to add credits or move to a larger plan. Background work — routines, your daily briefing, diary entries — is quietly skipped rather than failing, and resumes on its own once you have allowance or credits again.

Your allowance is fixed for the period you paid for

Section titled “Your allowance is fixed for the period you paid for”

The allowance attached to your subscription is recorded when you buy or renew. If we later change what a plan includes, your current period is unaffected — the change reaches you at your next renewal, not retroactively.
